Audi gives TT the S treatment

Audi's long-rumoured TTS has finally broken cover. Powered by what is essentially the Audi S3's all-wheel-drive quattro powertrain, the TTS's 2.0-litre turbo engine produces 272hp and 350Nm, which is enough power for a 0-100km/h time of 5.2 seconds with the twin-clutch S-Tronic transmission and a top speed limited to 250km/h. The manual models are two-tenths of a seconds slower to 100km/h while the roadster TTS is two-tenths slower again. On sale in mid-2008, the TTS gets a beefed up body kit, standard active dampers, revised suspension, steering and brakes, xenon headlamps complete with LED daytime running lights, special 18-inch alloys (19-inch wheels are optional) and four tailpipes. Inside, alcantara and leather sports seats and minor trim changes round out the TTS's upgrades. No word on prices yet but don't expect much change from €80,000.
